Bummer about all those cancelled trips! But you're right: Northern California is a great area to explore. I visited in 2008 (and several years prior to that), and I can't wait to go back!

Wish I had had this guide when I visited the area last summer (and absolutely loved it). I'll hold onto this for my next visit!

Wildflowers and waterfalls sounds wonderful and peaceful. I'd like to be out there right now.

I'm sending your post to good friends in Marin. Wow! I look forward to taking these walks with them next spring, when I plan a trip. Thanks.

I have family near San Francisco, these all look like great walks. My kids especially love to go on wildflower hikes.

Jenner is so pretty, though I must admit I've not been on that particular trail.

What a cool round up. I love wildflowers. I wish I was in this area so I could go on the walks you mention.

Gorgeous photos, and love the idea of a wildflower hike. Plenty of places to do that here in northern Michigan – our Trillium is blooming in the woods. Thanks for the inspiration, Melanie!

I grew up in the Bay Area and hadn't heard of the Jenner Headlands. Next time I'm home…

Nice, Melanie. My folks helped establish the Ring Mountain preserve–we grew up on its flanks. Beautiful. Thanks for conjuring up childhood memories of chasing after blue-bellies and carboard-sledding on the hills.

Oh, wildflowers are amazing. I love them. A wildflower walk is such a good idea! I've been pleasantly surprised by the profusion of flowers this spring – I'd spent the last four springs in Japan where you do see flowers, but not as abundantly as I see them here in the U.S.

I'm almost back to hiking the hills, missy. So when are we going out there? You've got me wishing for a glimpse of all those wildflowers.
